Hampton – Norman R. Michel, 82, of Hampton, died Monday, February 25, 2019 at Exeter Hospital after a period of failing health, with his family by his side. He was born in Rochester, July 6, 1936 the son of the late Albert and Arlene (Brochu) Michel. Raised in Rochester, he graduated from Spaulding High School in 1954 and then enlisted in the US Army honorably serving from 1956-1959. Norman was employed for 28 years as an interstate motor coach driver for Continental Trailways and was the recipient of the Million Mile accident free award. After retiring from Trailways he served 10 years as a school custodian for SAU 90 at Marston School in Hampton. He was an avid coin collector and loved going metal detecting. He enjoyed both salt and fresh water fishing and going to Bingo with his wife Barbara. He shared 52 years of marriage with the love of his life, Barbara J. (Davidson) Michel whom he met while driving his daily route that Barbara rode each day. In addition to his wife, he leaves his son, Kevin Michel and his wife Sheri of Arundel, ME, his daughter, Karin Michel of Hampton, three grandchildren, Christopher, Madison and Adam, his sister, Sylvia Gilbert, numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Irene Ludemann Visiting hours will be from 3-5 P.M. Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Services will be held at 12 Noon Monday, March 4, 2019 in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of traditional remembrances donations may be made to Rockingham Nutrition Program Wheels on Meals 106 North Road, Brentwood, NH 03833.
