Peter S. Peters
July 17, 1940 - May 4, 2022
Hampton – Peter S. Peters, 81, of Hampton, formerly of Methuen, MA died Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Exeter Hospital after a period of failing health. He was born in Lawrence, MA July 17, 1940, a son of the late George and Eleanor F. (Whidden) Peters. He resided in Hampton the past 22 years coming from Methuen having also lived in Haverhill, Hampstead and Lawrence. Peter attended Lawrence High School and entered the US Navy at an early age. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he was employed in maintenance at Malden Mills in Lawrence for over 20 years. He later worked in repair of PC circuit boards till his retirement. Even after retirement he never shied away from hard work and helping wherever it was needed. Peter married Patricia Vallario and had 3 children. Big Italian dinners were normal and where he learned to make his world famous Braciole. He later married Elva Benedict and they enjoyed 36 years of marriage. They liked to spend their time sitting at home playing games or taking one of their many trips to play bingo wherever. He really loved his trips to Foxwoods to play bingo for a chance at “THE BIG ONE”. After Elva’s passing, he met and enjoyed his time with Judy Grammatic for whom he was engaged too. They could often be seen out ‘an about playing keno together and engaged in major Yahtzee matches with Judy’s daughter Tracey. Peter was the adventurous type that loved to be outdoors. Whether he was hiking the White Mountains of New Hampshire or deep-sea fishing in the Atlantic. That was him. Fishing was by far his greatest joy. It didn’t matter if he was fishing at his brother Earl’s house in Newport, Maine or under the I93 bridge in the Merrimack River he would be in his happy place. He also enjoyed taking walks either alone or with his kids and then his grandkids. He would turn it in to an adventure, always finding something and usually getting yelled at upon returning “Get that thing out of this house!” He also spent countless hours painting or doing his latch hook rugs that he would often raffle off at the family Christmas party. Everyone loved his back rubs and would line up for one. Often at cookouts you would always here off in the distance “I’M NEXT”. Peter was a member of the Spiritualist church of Methuen for many years. Peter was always in amazing shape no one would ever look at him and say there goes an 81-year-old. Having beat cancer twice before, colon cancer and mild skin cancer were easy for him. His battle with lung cancer wasn’t as easy but he bravely fought until the end. He leaves his fiancée Judith (Grammatic) Erickson of Hampton, three sons, Robert Peters and wife Christine of Methuen, MA, Vaughn Peters and partner Mary and Matthew Peters all of Texas, four stepsons Duane Benedict and wife Donna, Kenneth Benedict all of Methuen, MA, Curt Benedict and wife Andie-Jane of Bradford, MA, Danny Bilodeau and wife Lina of Sandown, NH, 10 grandchildren Kelli, Alyssa, Wade, Anthony, Andrew, Korena, Calli, Chase, Cadence and Maverick, five great grandchildren Zoey, Ariana, Scarlett, Jaydalie and Autumn, two brothers Robert Peters and wife Sheila of Alabama, Earl Peters and wife Lois of Newport, ME and his sister Lucille Qualls of Arkansas, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Elva (Sanborn) Peters, his grandson Eric Benedict, his sister Sara Ahearne and his brother Buddy Peters. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of traditional remembrances, donations may be made to American Cancer Society
