Philip Anderson Towle

Hampton Falls – Philip A. Towle, 71, of Hampton Falls, formerly of the Towle Farm in Hampton, died on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Portsmouth Hospital. He was born in Newburyport, MA on November 24, 1944, a son of the late Samuel A. and Margaret (Stevenson) Towle. Phil was a graduate of Winnacunnet High School Class of 1963, of Bates College in Lewiston, ME in 1967 and did his graduate work at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN. He served with the US Army for two years in the research and development of serotonin in Aberdeen, MD before starting his teaching and coaching career at the Shamrock High School in Decatur, GA. In 1972 he was hired as a biology and math teacher and football coach for the North Andover, MA High School where he remained for 31 years, retiring in 2003. He then was employed by ESI Environmental Systems, Inc. as a research assistant until 2006. Family members include his son, Austin Towle and his daughter, Sydney Towle both of Stuart, FL; two brothers, Allan Towle of Lee, MA and Dr. Murray Towle of Greenville, PA as well as several nieces and nephews. Philip’s greatest joy in life was his two children, Austin and Sydney, whom he was incredibly proud of and loved immensely. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the First Congregational Church, 127 Winnacunnet Rd., Hampton. Family and friends are respectfully invited.
