Rochester – Ramona J. Schoff, 79, of Rochester, formerly of Dover and Greenland, died Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Frisbee Memorial Hospital after a period of failing health. She was born in Dover, July 14, 1942 the daughter of the late Constance (Foss) Brown and Peter Valhos. Ramona graduated Dover High School at the age of 16 and Eliot Hospital School of Nursing at the age of 19 and was employed as a registered nurse for 14 years until the death of her first husband Robert L. Keefe in 1976. In 1977 she married Porter J. Schoff and together they raised their families for many years in Greenland. Ramona was active selling Avon Cosmetics and working at Macy’s and owned and operated Ramona’s Collectables an antique shop. She was a longtime member of the Portsmouth Lions Club, serving as past King Lion and longtime chairperson of the eyesight committee. She was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow for her dedication as eyesight chair and the many other club activities she was involved in. Many seacoast residents and children were helped in vision testing and receiving eye glasses due to her diligence. Ramona was one of the first three women in the state to join the Lions Club back in the eighty’s when Lions International opened the membership to all. She and Porter also enjoyed traveling the world with Lions International. She shared 45 years of marriage with her husband Porter J. Schoff of Rochester. They spent 25 memorable summers at their camp on Balch Lake. In addition to her husband she leaves two daughters, Wendi Holman and husband Paul of Eliot, ME, Victoria Hardy and husband David of Dover, four step children, Tobey Schoff and wife Tara of Portsmouth, Heidi Spiller and husband Seth of York, ME, Holly Tobin and husband Bill of Portsmouth, Stephanie Jacques and husband Steve of Sanford, ME and nine grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her first husband she was predeceased by, her step father Harry Brown and her daughter Shelli Keefe. Visiting hours will be from 5-7 P.M. Friday May 20th at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A graveside service will be at 11am Saturday May 21st in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Greenland. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. A gathering will take place after the graveside service on Saturday at the Greenland Veterans Hall, 375 Portsmouth Avenue, Greenland, NH. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of traditional remembrances, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association
