Portsmouth – Raymond G. Piet, 80, of Portsmouth, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 at home with loving family at his bedside. He was born on March 4, 1936 in Stoke Centre, Quebec, Canada, a son of the late Jean-Baptiste and Marie Aldea Philomene (Mercier) Piet. Ray was raised in Berlin and graduated from Berlin High School with the Class of 1952. He enlisted in the United States Army shortly after high school and served his country honorably as an interpreter in France. Ray worked as construction contractor for many years and owned and operated RGP Real Estate and Development, formerly of Bedford, Manchester and Hampton. Ray was also a skilled artisan and wood worker and had hand-crafted many different items including a number of fine furnishings. He was a talented watercolor artist, an avid vegetable and flower gardener and a great cook. Ray enjoyed fly fishing and playing golf and was a member of the Oaks Golf Club of Somersworth. Family members include his wife, Eileen (Trahan) Piet of Portsmouth; his children, Dianne and Guy R. Piet, Christopher Gagnon and his wife, Shauna, all of Manchester and DeAnne West and her husband, Jason of Epping. He also leaves his sisters, Helene Dalphonse of Lady Lake, FL, Jeannine Roy and her husband, Andre Roy of Manchester and Susie Boucher and her husband, Marc of Micco, FL.. He also leaves his grandchildren, Kristen and Joseph Piet, Crystal Morin, Hannah St. Jean, Corey Guay, Mark Simpson, Lucas and Christopher Gagnon and Samantha and Paige West and one great grandchild, Logan Morin, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by his son, Andre Piet and his brothers, John, Jerome, Gilles, Louis and Benoit Piet. Visiting hours will be from 4-7 PM on Friday, December 16, 2016 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Rd., Hampton. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday at the Parish of the Transfiguration Church, 107 Alsace St., Manchester. Burial will be in the spring in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Manchester.
