Richard G. Perkins

June 7, 1929 - June 11, 2021

Hampton – Richard G. Perkins, 92, of Hampton, formerly of Seabrook Beach, died Friday, June 11, 2021 at his home with his loving daughter by his side. He was born in Newburyport, MA June 7, 1929 a son of the late Bert and Beatrice (Gauron) Perkins. He grew up in the Smithtown village section of Seabrook and was Seabrook’s first Eagle Scout in 1946. He graduated from Amesbury High School with the Class of 1948. He was a veteran serving with the US Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Allagash. After this he served as a chief engineer and officer in the US Merchant Marine Navy Reserve. It was while assigned to the Moore-McCormack lines that he met his future wife, Natalie. Mr. Perkins later worked as a mechanical inspector for Employers Commercial Union Insurance Company. Mr. Perkins with his wife owned the former Dairy Queen on Route 286 in Seabrook and operated it from 1972-1987. He resided at Seabrook Beach for 30 years before making his home in Hampton. He attended the Hampton Falls Baptist Church, enjoyed spending time at his camp on Aziscohos Lake at Lincoln Plantation, Oxford County, Maine and his winters on the west coast of Florida. He was a member of the Poetry Society of New Hampshire, was an avid collector of barometers and clocks and enjoyed tinkering with his Model A Ford. He shared 53 years of marriage with his wife the late Natalie (Klutchko) Perkins who predeceased him in 2017. He leaves his daughter Miriam Perkins and her husband Jeffrey Clark of Lowell, MA, his sister Glenna Jane Denny of White City, OR, several nieces and nephews. A visiting hour will be held from 2 P.M. to 3 P.M. Wednesday, June 16, 2021at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Services will immediately follow at 3 P.M. in the funeral home. Friends are respectfully invited. Private interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Seabrook.
