Rita M. Chagnon Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Seabrook – Rita M. Chagnon, 84, of Seabrook, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at her home with family by her side. She was born in Portsmouth, November 5, 1937 one of eight children to the late Thomas A. and Doris A. (Dockum) Eaton. Rita was a lifelong resident of Seabrook and mother to seven children. She was a wonderful mother taking care of the household all while working at the former Seabrook Yankee Greyhound track to help make ends meet. She was incredible with crafts, making lamps, tissue covers, painting, coloring, and enjoyed all types of animals. She would reminisce of her horse she had as a child that brought her great joy. She loved shopping and was a very giving person always making sure there was something for everyone during holidays. She also donated to a few charities every month, thinking of others before herself. She shared 63 years of marriage with her husband the late Oscar M. Chagnon who predeceased her in 2018. She leaves five children, Clement Chagnon and his wife Judy, Marie Souther, Rosanna Welch and her husband Donny all of Seabrook, April Eaton and her husband George of Epping, George Chagnon and companion Misty of Seabrook, her brother Peter Eaton of Seabrook, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, nieces and nephews. Rita was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Valerie Perkins, son Keith Chagnon, granddaughter Tisha Chagnon, 3 sisters and 3 brothers. A memorial gathering will be held from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday July 20, 2022 at the Trinity Parish House, 15 Folly Mill Road,, Seabrook. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
