Robert W. Canning

July 22, 1952 - April 7, 2021

Seabrook – Robert W. Canning, 68, of Seabrook, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 7, 2021. He was born in Newburyport, MA on July 22, 1952 a son of the late Frank and Mildred “Rita” (Parker) Canning. Raised in Amesbury, MA he graduated from Amesbury High School with the Class of 1971. He worked for the Amesbury Public Library for a number of years and most recently Amesbury Public Schools before retiring in 2014. Bob loved the beach where he could often be found walking his “grandson's dog” Dizzy. He was a former Amesbury volunteer firefighter who enjoyed sitting by the firepit in his backyard talking with family and friends. Surviving family members include his significant other of more than 20 years, Kathy Jackman of Seabrook; his son, Robert W. Canning Jr of Madbury, Kathy's daughters Jill and Heidi Jackman, his grandson, Nicholas, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Frank, Jr, David, and Timothy Canning. Visiting hours will be held from 5 - 7 PM on Monday, April 12, 2021 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home – Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association , P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
