Hampton – Robert L. “Bob” Chatigny, 84, of Hampton and formerly of Newburyport, MA passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the Exeter Rehabilitation Center where he had been living due to recent illness. He was born in Newburyport on August 13, 1937, one of ten children, to the late Desire J. and Amarelise (Dauphinaise) Chatigny. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife of 39 years, Evelyn (O'Connell) Chatigny, of Salem, MA. Bob graduated from Newburyport High School in 1955 and attended Bay State Academy. He worked for Northeast Air at Logan Airport for two years and then transferred to Trans-World Airlines. Later he served in Vietnam in Army Aviation. Upon his discharge, he returned to Trans-World Airlines. Between 1955 until they disbanded around 1968, Bob had a singing group that performed throughout New England and in Maryland and Virginia. They were quite popular for many summers at various clubs at Salisbury Beach. In 1972 Bob met Evelyn O’Connell, his future wife. They entered the harness racing industry in Maine where they owned racing horses for 32 years. Bob trained and drove the horses. He retired to be with his ailing wife who passed away in his arms in June of 2012. Evelyn's ashes will join Bob's body in his casket - Reunited Forever - interred in St. Mary's Cemetery, Newburyport MA. At Bob's request, services were private.
