Concord – Stephen J. LaCouter, 75, of Concord, formerly of Seabrook Beach and Strafford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 6, 2021 from injuries he sustained from an accident. He was born on March 31, 1946 in Lawrence, MA a son of the late Donnell and Dorothy (LaCouter) Nicholson. Raised in Methuen, MA he graduated from Methuen High School and went on to serve 4 years in the United States Air Force. After his time in the service, he moved to Colorado to continue in the family’s heritage of ski instruction, making Snowmass Ski Resort in Aspen his home mountain where he worked as a ski instructor for the next 10 years. In 1981, Steve met and married his future wife of 40 years Jeanne (Guerci) LaCouter in Aspen. They relocated to Denver, CO from 1983-1985 while Steve attended and graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art. They then relocated to New England and resided in Strafford, for 15 years before settling in Concord. First and foremost a dedicated family man, he devoted his life to raising his boys and being the rock of his family. He was also a beloved school bus driver for over 20 years for the city of Concord, a job he truly loved and made many lasting impressions. Stephen was an avid collector of electronics and could never turn down a good bargain. He was a member of the American Legion Post 21 in Concord. In addition to his wife, surviving family members include his sons, Nicholas LaCouter and his fiancée Barbra Araya of Watertown, MA and Travis LaCouter of Seabrook Beach; brothers, William LaCouter and his wife Gail Nichols of Aspen, CO and David “Scooter” LaCouter also of Aspen; grandson, Jaxon LaCouter of Watertown, MA; nephew, Gary LaCouter of Aspen, CO; niece, Laura (LaCouter) Davidson of Washington and many cousins. A visiting hour will be held from 11 AM - 12 PM on Saturday, November 20, 2021 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Seabrook. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
