Wendy was born in Cook County, Illinois and raised in Montgomery County, PA. She attended Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, PA and Endicott College in Beverly, MA. She met her husband Herb in Beverly, MA in May of 1973 and they married in December 1974. She was a lover of music and art, she played the piano and violin, had exquisite taste and her love of fashion was evident in her everyday dress. She loved the beach and the whole New England coastline whether on boat or land, rain or shine. Wendy loved her family more than anything. Through all the ups and the downs, she was patient, understanding, reliable and loyal. A fierce protector who made sure that all felt wanted and loved. She is predeceased by her parents Albert Boetticher and Barbara Boetticher. Her brother Karl Boetticher and her beloved Welsh corgi Sherwood. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years Herbert A. Colby III, daughter Gretchen O’Brien and her husband John, Herbert A. Colby IV and his wife Jen, Catherine Volinski and her husband Jay. Her precious grandchildren, Sophia and Colin O’Brien, Herbert A. 5th, Charlie Colby and Micah Volinski. Her loving sister Karen Greene of West Chester, PA who helped her navigate some tough times. Sisters Gail Stokes of Jamestown, RI and Leslie Holmes of Paoli, PA as well as several nieces and nephews. Wendy was the kindest, most compassionate person, who greeted each day with a smile and found joy in all the little things that life has to offer. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and her spirit will continue to guide her family through this very difficult time. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service which will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 166 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950.
