Hampton – William A. Miller, 81, of Hampton, died June 22, 2016 in Hampton. He was born March 25, 1935 in Holyoke, Mass., the son of the late William C. and Josephine A. (Menard) Miller. He was raised in Reading, Mass., and later resided in San Diego, CA for 38 years, before moving to Hampton in 2005. Bill was a 1953 graduate of Reading High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving for 22 years, both in the enlisted ranks attaining Master Gunnery Sergeant and later as a commissioned officer attaining the rank of Captain before retiring in 1994. He served in Korea and Vietnam. He was later employed as a training coordinator and quality assurance inspector for a major pest control company in San Diego. He was the husband of the late Janice (Fields) Miller with whom he shared 47 years of marriage who predeceased him in San Diego in 2002. He leaves his daughter, Susan Taylor of San Diego, his grandson, Christopher Taylor and his wife Amber, of Escondido, CA, two sisters, Lee Lower of Essex, MA, Leslie Handler of Evergreen, CO, and his brother, John Miller of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. After cremation, inurnment with full military honors will be next to his wife in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego. Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.
