Bernard G. Lemerise

Bernard G. Lemerise, 92, of Hampton, NH, passed away on Sunday February 1, 2026. Born on May 11th, 1933, in Montreal, Canada. He was a son of Henry A. Lemerise and Matilda (D'aoust) Lemerise. Bernie grew up on Edgewood Avenue in Haverhill MA and graduated from Haverhill High School and Boston University with a Masters degree. After college he enlisted in the US Air Force, stationed in Guam to serve our country. His career began at Raytheon and then became a school teacher in the Haverhill school system. He soon married his new found love, Louise Lemerise in 1961, and they had their first son, Keith, the following year then Gregg & finally Chris. Bernie started their next chapter in life and moved their family in 1969 to Hampton Beach and opened a successful motel, Rainbow Village and ran it until 1986. Throughout the years he remained a school teacher until his retirement. He loved his job and the kids and he always felt he could make a difference in their lives. Bernie later joined the Hampton Beach Area Chamber of Commerce in the 1970's, became president and also was a Precinct Commissioner as well. Bernie loved the PR, the involvement and engagement of working with people to solve problems, address issues and make things better for everyone. Bernie started his next chapter after the sale of the motel to reside in Hampton with Louise & his family. A few years later, Bernie & Louise bought The Paper Patch, a local card shop, in Portsmouth, NH and ran it for several years until their retirement. Throughout the years, he would enjoy life at home and away enjoying his vacations with family and friends in North Conway, Myrtle Beach, and Scottsdale, Arizona, where they would reside half the year to enjoy the warm weather and spectacular view of Nona's mountains. Scottsdale was their 2nd home for almost 30 years and a special retirement retreat from the NE cold. He had so many fond memories of enjoying sunny days at the pool, good times with their new friends and the relaxing condo life where the living is easy and peaceful. Bernie loved the pool and enjoyed strolling around his 1st grand daughter Alexandra. He is survived by his son, Keith J. Lemerise, his wife Kathy, their 2 daughters, Alexandra & Sophia. Gregg P. Lemerise, his 3 daughters Linnea, Rose & Grace and his wife Kim, Chris B. Lemerise and his son Brody. Also, many nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends.. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Richard Lemerise, Lorraine Charbonneau, Noella Frascaria, Margaret Houle, Claire Duchemin as well as his surviving siblings Robert Lemerise & Henry Lemerise, Jr. To those of us who knew Bernie, we will miss his kind and diplomatic way, his strength and desire to enjoy life as much as possible. We hope to honor and cherish Bernie's memory by carrying forward the immense amount of love and warmth that he offered all of us throughout his life. His family will forever love him and miss him, but we embrace and cherish the thought that he is in heaven in Louise's arms, back together again forever. A Celebration of Life mass will be held on Saturday, February 28th, 2026 at 10am at Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Rd, Hampton, NH. Followed by a luncheon for family and friends.
