Carol A. "Sammy" Kenney

Hampton - Carol Ann “Sammy” Kenney, age 89, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH with her children at her side. Born to Zigmund and Harriet Nanatonis on January 13, 1937, in Framingham, MA, Carol was immensely proud of her Lithuanian heritage. She had four siblings, Helen, Joseph, Violet, and Frank. Carol was born in Framingham, MA and graduated from Framingham High School where she enjoyed cheerleading. Carol earned her bachelor’s degree from Framingham State Teacher’s College and used her education teach at Rye Elementary School. She was a member of the Rye PTA and a Girl Scout leader. Carol, a true people person, later found joy in working as a server at Pirates Cove Restaurant, in Rye, NH. She finished her career as a salesclerk at Rite Aid in North Hampton, NH where she earned the prestigious regional “Smile Award” for her customer service skills. As a longtime resident of Rye, Carol enjoyed relaxing at the beach, painting, and gardening. She most enjoyed cooking for and feeding her family. No one ever left her house hungry. She was an avid traveler with many trips to Saratoga Springs, NY, and Barbados. Carol is survived by her children Lizabeth and her husband Edward Comeau of Conway, NH; Christine Bean of Hampton, NH; James Joseph Kenney and his wife Joni of Bridgton ME; Peter Kenney and Julie Chevalier of York, ME as well as her six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Carol is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, James Joseph Kenney; her son in law Scott Alan Bean; her sister Helen Urban, brother Joseph Urban, brother Frank Nanatonis, sister Violet Smith, and nephew Michael Urban. Carol was a family-oriented, dedicated wife, mother, aunt, sister, and grandmother. We will miss you, Sammy! A visiting hour will be held from 10-11 am on Friday, June 5, 2026 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am immediately following at St. Theresa Parish, 820 Central Road, Rye Beach, NH. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
