Chris M. Yost

Newfields - Christian M. Yost died on December 14, 2025, at the age of 82, surrounded by his family. Chris, as he preferred to be called, was born in Upper Nazareth, PA to Peggy and Israel A.S. Yost. While at the University of Hawaii, he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. He then went on to receive his Master of Science Degree in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation, he taught Social Studies at Freeport High School in Freeport, NY for one year and then was drafted into the US Army and served in Viet Nam. Upon the completion of his military service, he returned to Freeport High School where he met his wife, Jan. They were married in 1972, and in 1975, they had a son, Jason. After the birth of their son, they moved to New Hampshire. Being a person of many talents, Chris easily transitioned from teaching to construction. In 1978, he and his brothers Izzy and Peter built the family home in Hampton, NH. From 1978 through 2024, Chris continued his work in construction with an interruption from 1995 through 2001. During that time, he was a consultant for the National Association of Home Builders Research Center in Maryland. In that job, he was a program manager and quality assurance auditor for the Insulation Contractor Certification Program. He assisted in the development of ICCP audit process, audit forms, and auditor handbook. He was also a seminar presenter on ICCP and remediation of EIFS (Exterior Insulation Finishing Systems). In 1999, he and a partner established a new company specifically to inspect EIFs clad houses in Texas, Maryland, California, Florida, and Massachusetts. One of Chris’s greatest passions was being on the water. While living in New York, he cherished sailing around Long Island aboard a friend’s Herreshoff New York 40, as well as motoring up the Piscataqua River in New Hampshire with friends and family. His deepest joy, however, came from time spent with his family. Watching his granddaughters play volleyball or softball, listening to music composed by his son, and enjoying the wonderful meals prepared by his daughter-in-law brought him immense happiness and contentment. Chris was preceded in death by his father (June 2000), his mother at the age of 100 (September 2021), brothers Israel (September 2022) and Reuben (April 2021). He is survived by his wife, Janice, his son Jason (Sara), his granddaughters, Guilamina and Elle, his siblings Monica, Nathan (Susan), Faith (Christopher), Hannah (Marvin), Homer (Carol), Peter (Christine), Maria, and Luther (Sarah), several nieces and nephews, as well as grandnieces and grandnephews. Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Chris for a period of visitation on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Chris’ name be made to a charity of your choice.
