Donald R. Desrochers

North Hampton – Donald Reginald Desrochers, 85, of North Hampton, and formerly of Goffstown and Merrimack, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. He was born in Pittsfield, NH on May 24, 1938, a son of the late Edmond and Grace (Picard) Desrochers. He shared over 64 years of beautiful marriage with his beloved wife, Martha S. (Kamieniecki) Desrochers. The Desrochers family lived in Pittsfield for the first 6 years of Donald’s life before relocating to Manchester. He first met Martha, the love of his life, when she was cheering for a Nashua High basketball game and started dating after bumping into each other at another event. They were married in 1959 and settled into a home that Don constructed himself in Goffstown. After 10 years in Goffstown, they moved to Merrimack where they raised their family for the next 40 years. Donald was always a quiet hard-working man and a great provider for his family. Never one to sit idle, he was always on the move with several overlapping projects. Don was the ultimate handyman and could fix anything…. without reading the instructions! He was always active in his children’s lives as well and coached several athletic teams over the years. Donald had worked for the former Foster Beef Company of Bedford for over 15 years before being hired by Pilgrim Furniture of Merrimack as their distribution manager. Upon leaving Pilgrim, Donald took a position as Buildings and Maintenance Director with the Bedford School District until his retirement in 2003. He was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church of Merrimack for over 40 years and was very active in many church programs. In his retirement years, Donald loved traveling and especially enjoyed several trips to Bermuda, visit to Sonoma and his favorite location, anywhere in Italy. He enjoyed all sports but to say he was an avid Red Sox fan would be an understatement. He cheered his team on through thick and thin. Don also enjoyed an occasional visit to the casinos and was known to purchase a lottery ticket or two. Family was always number one in Don’s life and left to cherish his memory are his wife, Martha, his sons, David Desrochers and his wife, Linda of Manchester and Michael Desrochers and his wife, Tracey of Barnstead, his daughter, Karen Desrochers of Hampton, his grandchildren, Caitlin Desrochers, Erica Seracusa, Nathan Desrochers, Christian Desrochers and Peyton Desrochers, his great grandchildren Atticus Day, Avelina Seracusa, Ari Serach and Ruby Serach and his step grandchildren, Derek Serach and Breanne Gerke. He also leaves his brother, Armand Desrochers and his wife, Irene of Allenstown and his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Stanners of Hampton. In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his brothers, Norman and Lionel Desrochers and Willie Dube and his grandson, Patrick “Paddy” Desrochers. Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday, October 22, 2023, in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Rd., Hampton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dr John Niles VGC Research fund, 101 Merrimack Street, Boston, MA 02114-4722 or the St. Vincent de Paul Society, care of the church at the above address.
