Dora S. Orsucci

Kittery, ME — Dora S. Orsucci, 99, of Kittery, formerly of Portsmouth, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. She was born in Chicago, IL, on November 20, 1921, the daughter of the late Annibale Bendinelli and Corinne (Michi). Raised in Chicago, she made the Seacoast her home since 2001. Dora was known as a loving, happy, fun-loving mom, mother-in-law, and grandmother who simply enjoyed life. She loved her family deeply and her good nature and forgiving personality endeared her to everyone. Her faith was very important to her and helped her survive the loss of her best friend and life-long love, severe illness, and many tribulations. She shared 44 years of marriage with her late husband, Raymond Orsucci, who predeceased her in 1989. She and Ray spent many happy years fishing, cooking, entertaining, and spending time with family. Dora was a volunteer at Portsmouth Regional Hospital for several years, until she moved to Kittery, ME, in 2017. Wherever she went, she made friends whom she treasured. Dora loved animals, and she and Ray never hesitated to accept whatever homeless creature their daughter adopted. She and Ray passed on a love of nature and the outdoors to all in their family. Surviving family members include her daughter, Karen Fitz and her husband Ronald, of Portsmouth; 2 grandsons, Kelly and Ryan and his partner Tracy; 2 great-granddaughters, Margot and Ada; as well as sister-in-law Lorraine Orr, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother and his wife, Raymond & Madlyn Bendinelli; step-sister, Lillian Nannini; brothers-in-law, Roland and Paul Orr and James Nannini, and sister-in-law, Ruby Orr. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, October 4, 2021 at St. Raphael’s Church, 6 Whipple Rd., Kittery, ME 03904. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
