Ellen Boyd McIntosh

Stratham - Ellen Boyd McIntosh, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at her home in the comforting presence of her husband and daughter after battling a brief but serious illness. She was born on June 8, 1954, in Everett, Massachusetts, to Edward Boyd and Catherine (Harrington) Boyd. A graduate of Melrose High School's class of 1972, Ellen started her career at a phone company, known today as Verizon. Her journey from operator to a Public Relations professional in Boston and New York City was marked by determination and grace. In 1996, she embraced motherhood with the birth of her daughter, Molly, and made the heartfelt decision to retire a year later to devote her time to her family. Ellen later found fulfillment working at Exeter Hospital, scheduling surgeries in the OR. Ellen and her husband, Jeff, were on the brink of celebrating their 39th wedding anniversary this September. Married on September 10th, 1988. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, love, and the mouthwatering aroma of Ellen's excellent home-cooked meals. Her chicken piccata and marinara sauce, a recipe she cherished, given to her by a dear family friend, were just a few examples of the delights she shared with loved ones. Ellen was known for being an avid reader & wouldn't turn down the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. She loved to host friends and family, her top priority being keeping bellies and glasses full. When she wasn't hosting, she spent time with friends over the phone. Her back porch was a sanctuary where she would enjoy music and fresh air. The fond memories she created with her "Girls of '72" and her six siblings were moments she held close to her heart. Family was the cornerstone of Ellen's life. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jeff, her loving daughter, Molly Bassett, and son-in-law, Tommy Bassett. Ellen was the proud "Mimi" to her grandchildren, Thomas and Ripley, who will forever remember her loving smile and endless amount of hugs & kisses. Her siblings, Elizabeth Garrett of Seattle, Maura Feener of Gloucester, Michael Boyd of Stoneham, Peter Boyd and wife Cathy of Methuen, Amy Conley of Stratham, and Martha Wightman and husband Bill of Melrose, will miss her dearly. Family and friends will gather to remember Ellen for a period of visitation Friday, August 14th, 2026 5-7pm. This will be held at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, located at 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH. As we gather to honor Ellen's life, we carry forward her legacy of love, warmth, and generosity. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
