Gertrude C. Gynan

Northwood – Gertrude C. Gynan, 85, of Northwood, formerly of Seabrook, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Sunday, February 15, 2026, one day before her 86th birthday. She was born in Seabrook NH on February 16, 1940 a daughter of the late James A. and Leona (Fowler) Homan. Raised in Seabrook she and her husband moved to Northwood in 1999. Gert worked at Southers Shellfish for many years with not only relatives but also others who would become lifelong friends. She was an avid fisherman enjoying both fresh and saltwater fishing and even traveled to Alaska to fish for salmon. She enjoyed gardening and preserving foods for family and friends. She loved bingo with her friends and she never met a casino she didn’t like. The biggest joy of her life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, on multiple cruises and trips tubing down the Saco River. She shared 66 years of marriage with her late husband, Bernard E. Gynan Sr. who predeceased her in 2024. Surviving family members include her children, Bernard E. Gynan Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA and Heidi Carroll and her husband Stephen of Seabrook, NH; 7 grandchildren, Jereme, Jacob, Brittany, Cyrus, Benjamin and his wife Anna, Adrianne Carroll and her husband Joshua Gabry and Natasha; 4 great-grandchildren, Takira, Gabriel, Mya and Legend; siblings, William Homan and Bertha Fowler, many nieces and nephews and her grand dogs, Mason, Millie, Luna and Indy. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters Vira Goldthwaite, Alice Brown and Laura Homan and her brother James Homan. Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm on Sunday, February 22, 2026 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842. Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, February 23, 2026 at the Rand Memorial Congregational Church, 134 South Main Street, Seabrook, NH 03874. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Seabrook.
