Harrison Bruce Beckman

Seabrook - Harrison Bruce Beckman, 77, of Seabrook, NH, passed away peacefully at home on August 13, 2026, surrounded by his favorite people. Born in Newburyport, MA, to Annie and Robie Beckman of Seabrook, NH, Harrison was the fifth youngest of their six children. Harrison was very proud of his Seabrook roots, and the time he spent near the homestead being “doted on by his sisters”, and riding his bike up and down Farm Lane with his brothers and friends. Those Farm Lane adventures eventually led to a profitable paper route delivering the Haverhill Gazette, where his father worked as a photographer. Harrison fondly remembered summer trips with his family to Rhode Island to visit cousins and play chess with his Uncle Malcolm. Harrison attended Winnacunnet High School, graduating with the Class of 1966, and went on to Plymouth State University. During his time at Plymouth, he proudly served on the College Judiciary Board, worked as a dormitory supervisor, and developed a passion for New Hampshire politics. In 1968, he was asked to lead the college campaign for Nelson Rockefeller and later became Chairman of the New Hampshire College Caucus of Young Republicans. He often joked about this since he was, at the time, too young to vote himself. Harrison often described himself as a homebody during his first two years of college, frequently hitchhiking home because he didn't yet own a car. That changed during his senior year, when he purchased a 1968 orange Firebird—a car so special to him that he kept a photograph of it on the mantle until the day he passed. After college, Harrison began his career as a Sky Marshal and narcotics agent with the civil service. He later spent 28 years with the Federal Aviation Administration as an Employee Assistance Program Manager, retiring in 2005 as a Senior Relations Specialist. Retirement, however, did not slow him down. He spent his later years driving injured workers to medical appointments, accumulating more than 10,000 miles in his “retirement”. Even though he loved driving (he literally would drive anywhere), his favorite part of the job was the people. Harrison was a natural conversationalist who could strike up a friendship with just about anyone he met. Harrison was well known for his love of New England Patriots football and could often be heard yelling at the television—from the street—during game time. Harrison brought both Donna and Lauren to a few Patriots games but he truly loved watching from home with friends. Summertime was always busy at the homestead, as he loved having company over and hosting friends and family at the pool. As mentioned Harrison loved to drive, and throughout his life he owned many different vehicles. More than once, he went out for “a carton of milk” and came home with a new car. His love of cars, however, was perhaps rivaled only by his love of people, conversation, and the simple pleasure of spending time with those around him. Harrison is survived by his wife of 27 years, Donna (Dowie) Beckman; his daughter, Lauren Beckman; his brother, Hayden Beckman, Sr.; his sister, Gail Hawkins; and his beloved cat, Carson. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and close family friends who helped shape and enrich his beautiful life.
