John T. O'Brien

East Wakefield – John Thomas O’Brien, 71, of East Wakefield, entered God’s Kingdom on Thursday, October 5, 2023. He was born on November 22, 1951, in Attleboro, MA, a son of the late Thomas and Adele (Williams) O’Brien. John shared over 26 years of wonderful marriage with his beloved wife, Joni (Sini) O’Brien. John was raised in Norton, MA and attended Norton High School. He enlisted in the United States Army after high school and honorably served his country while assigned to the 13th Engineer Battalion 7th Division, Ft. Ord, CA. Upon his discharge, he returned to Massachusetts where he would support and raise his daughter Jenny. In 1997, John moved to New Hampshire to marry and start his life with Joni. Nature was John’s pacifier. He loved birds, bugs, all animals and gazing at the stars and planets, particularly Mars. He loved reading, history, Nostalgia and Old Time Radio and always looked forward to his annual Nostalgia Convention where he would perform in Old Time Radio shows. John loved God, Jesus Christ, and the fellowship of his Friends in Recovery. He enjoyed music and often had a song on his lips. He loved classic rock, specifically the Doors and Led Zeppelin. For several years, he shined as song leader at Faith Renewal Fellowship with Joni accompanying him on the piano. One of his greatest pleasures was reading Westerns while relaxing in the warm summer waters of Lake Belleau where he spent his final years. John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and good neighbor. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joni, his daughter, Jenny and her husband Phil and his grandson Jack, loving nieces and caring friends. John had an unmatched sense of humor that brightened any darkness and elicited countless smiles and fits of laughter. His uncanny ability to make others laugh will be sorely missed by those he loved and those who loved him back. A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Tuesday October 17, 2023, from 1-3 at the First Christian Church, 83 N. Main St, Wolfeboro NH 03894. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Humane Society.
