Joseph D. Titus

Hampton - Joseph D. Titus 84 of Hampton, NH passed away peacefully on Friday May 29th, 2026 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Philadelphia, PA - a son of the late Joseph and Mildred (McDermott) Titus. Raised in Philadelphia, he graduated from Roman Catholic High School - he then went on to graduate from Syracuse University. He was honored to serve and be a member of the Air Force. He went on to work in the medical field for Beckman Instruments. He spent a lot of time on the Jersey shore but finally resided in Hampton, NH right on the beach where he spent the last 25 plus years. He loved watching and going to horse races - and spent over 30 years going to Saratoga with his two sons Jim and Joe! He was still making bets even in his final days. He was an avid reader - You would find him on his favorite spot on the couch reading the latest James Patterson book after picking it up from the town library, He loved fishing and did many fishing trips over the years. He kept up faithfully with the latest stocks and financial info going on.Every Sunday you could find him ready to go over the weeks stocks and numbers with his son Jim - they spent hours every Sunday doing this. Following going over the stocks and numbers, he would enjoy his weekly Mike's sub that his daughter Renee would bring up for him. If it was your birthday - The first text you would receive would be from him - usually around 4 a.m. He would spend time picking out just the right Hallmark card to give to you on your birthday. He never asked for anything - and was actually the hardest person to buy gifts for - only ever asking for his favorite thing - Market Basket gift cards. If you ventured out of the norm to buy him something else - he usually had you return it. He loved watching all sports - Football being his favorite. For years he bought scratch tickets and lottery tickets for his kids - always hoping that one of us would win big. He would also receive scratch tickets as gifts and would often wait days to weeks to scratch them until he felt "lucky". On a hot summer day - you would get a call or text from him saying "Come on up - going to be a great beach day." Most importantly he loved spending time with all his kids and grand kids. Surviving family members include his children Renee McGuire and her husband Tim of Bradford, MA, Jim Titus and his wife Megan of Salem, NH and Joe Titus and his partner Elizabeth Beck of Alpharetta GA as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother James Titus. All services will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital by clicking here.
