Karen T. Hopwood

Hampton Falls - Attorney Karen Tracy (Hedison) Hopwood, 63, of Hampton Falls, NH passed away peacefully on Friday, March 14th with her family at her side. She was being treated at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston for recently diagnosed leukemia and encountered complications following a bone marrow transplant. The family thanks her incredible team of medical professionals for their extraordinary care and the anonymous bone marrow donor for their generous gift. Karen was born in Boston, MA to the late Haig and Joan Hedison of Carlisle and South Orleans, MA and was a retired Assistant District Attorney for the Essex County (MA) District Attorney’s Office where she worked for over 20 years. During this time she specialized in victim cases, where she was able to use her passion and dedication to bring justice to so many. Karen is survived by her loving husband and best friend Rick Hopwood and was the loving stepmother of Dr. Robin Hopwood Courville (Dr. Jeff Courville) of Centerville, OH and Jamie Hopwood (Rae-Ann) of Carmel, IN and grandmother to Jackson and Ally Courville and Eddie, Alex, and Austin Hopwood. She had a large and loving family including her brother Harry Hedison (Amy) of New London, NH and sister Leslie Hedison (Michael Jenkins) of Marshall, VA, sister-in-law to Kathy Begor (Everett) of Hebron, NH, Rod Hopwood (Linea) of Intervale, NH, Sandi Carrigan (Steve) of Tega Cay, SC, Lisa Thomas (Gary) of Melbourne, FL, and the late Michael Hopwood of Nashua, NH. Karen’s family meant everything to her including her nieces and nephews Emily, Jessica, and Ellie Hedison, Nathan Begor (Leea), Kristin Rogers (Eric), Whitney Hopwood, George Cishek (Katie), Brian Cishek (Kathleen), Pete Thomas (Shannon), Mandi Pedrick (Charlie); her cousins Ann Hedison, Maureen Romanik, Paul Hedison and Bill Leone (Christy); her great nieces and nephews Millie, Noah and Elsa Rogers, Davis and Liam Cishek, Connor and Apollo Drake and Ben Cishek, Meyer, Rowan and Emory Thomas, Mia and Ava Pedrick; and her Aunt Doris Price and Uncle Robert Price (deceased), of Chelmsford, MA. Karen leaves behind many beloved colleagues and friends from her years working at the Essex County District Attorney’s Office. Karen also served as a trustee on the Helen F Batchelder Scholarship Fund in Hampton Falls, NH. Her friendship, intellect and commitment will be greatly missed. Finally, and importantly, she leaves her two dogs that she loved very much, Franke and Colby. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH on March 23rd from 1pm to 5pm. A funeral service will be held at Hampton United Methodist Church, 525 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH at 11am on March 24th.
