Leona E. Eaton

Amesbury, MA - Leona E. Eaton, 87, of Amesbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2022 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family members. She was born on April 8, 1935 in Amesbury, a daughter of the late Roland and Mabel (Butland) Cook. She shared over 29 years of marriage with her late husband, Warren H. Eaton who died in 1983. Leona always made the holidays extra special for her family and had a knack for finding the most clever gifts. She was always the first to arrive at family get-togethers, eagerly offering to help with cooking and the last to leave after helping with any and all cleanup. You could set your watch to her as she was ritualistically punctual, no matter what the occasion. She always had her camera in her hand and captured all of the special moments. If you were looking for a photo of any event, no matter how many years passed, you could always count on her to have it. She will forever be missed by many, and we are grateful for all of the great memories we got to have with her. Mrs. Eaton leaves behind several loving family members including her son and daughter-in-law Daniel and Laurie-Anne Eaton, her sister Linda Culpepper, her grandchildren Danielle Barnes, Jennifer Hawkes and Justin Clooney, her great grandchildren Alexus Musumarra, Christina Amato, Braelee and James Hawkes, Breslyn Hawkes, and Danny Barnes. Leona was also able to see her great great grandchildren Avanni and Evalee Merced, CJ Amato, and 2 more on the way. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Rochelle Cook and nieces and nephews, including Jess Cresenzi, who she often referred to as “more like a daughter”. In addition to her parents and husband, Leona was predeceased by her brothers, Francis L. Cook, Rodney E. Cook and Lloyd A. Cook, her dear friend Norma Fowler and her great-grandson Brody Miller. Her family would like to thank Kevin Fowler and family, Maria Wansker, Georgette Tattan, Fran Page, Dan, maintenance at Heritage Vale, and the many other friends that showed her so much love and kindness. Per her wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, anyone looking to honor her memory can make a donation to charity in her name.
