Marie "Alice" Holding

Portsmouth- Marie “Alice” Holding, 77, of Portsmouth, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, August 16, 2026. She was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, on September 17, 1948, to the late Joseph Emery and Lorraine Florence (Johnson) Dupuis. Alice immigrated to the United States with her family when she was just 14 months old. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Moylan, PA, in 1966. Alice began her family and raised her children in Upland, PA, before moving to New Hampshire in the late 1970s. In her younger years, she worked at her family’s business, the Flower Wagon, in Hampton, NH. Alice devoted much of her life to raising her family and cherished watching her children and grandchildren grow. She found great joy in giving back to others. She especially enjoyed quilting, sewing and crafting. She made quilts with Quilts of Valor for Veterans and participated in the prayer shawl group at Corpus Christi Parish in Portsmouth. She also volunteered as a Pease Greeter and was a frequent blood donor. Alice was employed at Portsmouth Walmart for the last 30 years. Alice will be lovingly remembered by her children, Susan Zielinski of Atkinson, Patrick Holding and his wife, Melody, of Plaistow, and David Holding of Salem, and her siblings, Emery Dupuis and his wife, Geri, of Long Beach Island, NJ, Celia Connors and her husband Larry of Dover, Delaware, Ozzie Dupuis and his wife, Joan, of Oxford, PA, and Jerry Dupuis and his wife, Nancy, of Media, PA; her grandchildren, Michael Zielinski and his wife, Lyanh, Christian Zielinski and his fiancée, Rachelle Deshaies, Madison Holding, Brooke Holding, and Grant Holding; and her great-grandchildren, Bodhi Zielinski, Remi Zielinski, and Franki Zielinski; and her many cherished nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by her brother, Charlie Dupuis, and sister, Ellen Dupuis. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026 at Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Corpus Christi Parish, 98 Summer Street, Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
