Todd R. Butenas

Brentwood – Todd R. Butenas, 59, of Brentwood, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 25, 2024 with his wife at his side. He was born December 14, 1964 in Hartford, CT, first born son of Carole (Fuller) Butenas of Broad Brook, CT and the late Robert Butenas. He and his beloved wife of 20 years, Diane (Campagnone) Butenas, have made Brentwood their home for the past 12 years with their three Australian Shepherds, Nico, Matteo, and Gemma. In addition to his mother and wife, surviving family members include his cherished son, Cory Belczyk and his wife April of Ware, MA; step-daughter Shaunna Davis and her husband Jonathan of Chester, NH; brother, Mark Butenas and his wife Jennifer of Stratham, NH; grandchildren, Ashton and Ellie Belczyk and Louella Davis; nephews Zac and Ben Butenas; niece and goddaughter Emilee Butenas; as well as many treasured aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his beloved brother, Jeff Butenas, whose passing 9 years ago he never fully recovered from. Todd was brilliant. He was always reading and researching, a life-long learner. He worked as a computer analyst and consultant for over 40 years, recently retiring at the end of July. This allowed him more quality time with his family and to follow his true passion, nature photography, which took him across the United States. He most recently returned from a trip to Florida with his best friend Dan, having photographed osprey, eagles and other birds of prey. Todd was exceptionally talented and could capture the beauty of any landscape or animal with his lense. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed many beautiful days playing 18 holes with his mom, brother, son, and nephews. He also enjoyed Formula 1 Racing and was planning to take Cory and April to see the Miami race in May. Todd was devoted to health and fitness, and often engaged in friendly banter with Cory about who was more fit. Todd was quiet and calm, often a man of few words. His moniker, “Toodles”, was appointed by Shaunna as a sassy pre-teen, but over time morphed into an endearing nickname used by many; he secretly loved it. The birth of his grandchildren brought out a more tender side of him, one that was too short-lived. He and Diane were going to start traveling together this year and already had a trip planned for the spring. His untimely passing has rocked the lives of all who knew him.
