Wendy S. Pleau

Hampton- Wendy Sergeant Pleau age 75, of Hampton, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on October 6, 2023. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on June 22, 1948, to the late Duncan and Joan (Wiser) MacDougall. Wendy was raised in Montreal and graduated from West Hill High School in Montreal in 1965. Those who loved Wendy know that she had a passion for sports, especially hockey. She was always the happiest in a rink while rooting for those she loved. As a mother she never missed a chance to watch her children compete. When she became a grandmother, her competitive nature, and her fierce love for her grandchildren, made her the perfect fan at all the soccer games, horse shows, gymnastics meets and of course hockey games she attended. Family and friends loved to watch her cheer for her husband, children, or grandchildren, but we also loved to watch her “call out” the referee, judge or coach who did not make the right call or provide enough playing time for those she loved. If you were on the field or watching in the same arena you always knew how she felt about those referees, coaches, and judges. Wendy will always be remembered for that passion! She was a great athlete! She enjoyed playing tennis, waterskiing, and snow skiing. She loved listening to the oldies while dancing and singing, especially Elton John and Patsy Cline. She was also adventurous. She enjoyed traveling with her sister who was her favorite travel companion. She loved to relax on the beach with a book while surrounded by her family and friends. She was always at peace when spending time with her family at the family beach house in Seabrook where she had many family dinners and made memories that will be cherished forever. She was an avid animal lover and volunteered at the Merrimack Valley Feline Rescue. When Wendy visited with family there was no one happier to see her than the many family pets. When she arrived, the animals came running looking for love, pets and of course treats. She loved to hand out treats! She was always the life of the party! Family and friends will never forget her happy and fun-loving personality. Wendy was kind, loving, loyal and patient. She was a strong independent woman, an amazing wife, mother and grandmother, who made many sacrifices throughout her life for her family. She touched so many lives. Her beautiful smile and warm personality will always be remembered. In addition to Lawrence, her husband, left to cherish her memory are her son Steven Pleau and his wife Sherry of Hampton Falls, and daughter Shannon Nolan and her husband Tom of Hampton. She also leaves sister Diana Wallbridge and husband Cam of Georgetown, Ontario, sister-in-law Leslie MacDougall of Vancouver, Canada, grandchildren Lily 19, Ryan 18, Jake 17, Reese 13, and Gracie 12, and Felina, her very special cat companion. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on November 15, 2023 at the Rye Congregational Church, 580 Washington Road, Rye, NH 03870. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The Merrimack Feline Society by clicking here or the American Cancer Society by clicking here. The celebration of Wendy’s life will continue immediately following the service at Abenaqui Country Club, 731 Central Road, Rye Beach, NH 03871. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
